David Lynch
Zazie (da janela do comboio)
- What really fascinates you about factories and industry?
- It’s the power, I think. It makes me feel good to see giant machinery, you know, working: dealing with molten metal. And I like fire, and smoke. And the sounds are so powerful, It’s just big stuff. It means that things are being made. And I really like that. I got into that little bit with the Elephant Man. Now it’s computers and robots building everything. It’s cleaner, smaller, more efficient.
(…) I like factory people, steel, rivets, bolts, wrenches, oil and smoke. Industrialization its never a central theme but it always lurks in the background.
(…)I started falling in love with industry and flesh. No one has gotten the power in cinema that I feel there is in industry and factory workers, this notion of fire and oil. To me factories are symbols of creation, with the same organic processes as in nature.
